eSIM for Spain
Data from the moment you land, no SIM swap
An eSIM is a digital SIM card: there is nothing to insert. You buy it online, install it with a QR code and it activates when it connects to a network in Spain. It is the quickest way to get data on a short trip.
How to install it
- 1. Check your phoneIt must support eSIM and be unlocked. Most iPhones since the XS and many recent Android phones do: in your mobile data settings you will see the option to add an eSIM.
- 2. Buy before you leaveChoose the days or data you need. You get a QR code or an installation link by email.
- 3. Install it on WiFiScan the code at home or at the hotel. It does not remove your usual SIM: you can have both at once.
- 4. Activate it on arrivalWhen you land in Seville, select the eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that line.
Advantages and things to know
- No queues or shopsYou do not depend on opening hours or showing your passport in a shop.
- Keep your numberYour usual SIM stays active for calls and texts (watch that line’s roaming if you come from outside the EU).
- Usually data onlyMany travel eSIMs have no Spanish number: use apps like WhatsApp to call.
- HotspotSome plans limit sharing data with other devices. Check if you travel with a laptop or tablet.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the eSIM work in the towns around Seville?Yes, it uses Spanish operators’ networks, which cover the city and the towns. Coverage can be weaker in the mountains, as with any SIM.
- When should I install the eSIM?Ideally the day before you travel, on WiFi. Then you only need to switch it on when you land.
- Can I use WhatsApp with a data eSIM?Yes. WhatsApp keeps working with your usual number even when the data comes from the eSIM.
